Canada Day Call for Performers

Celebrating this year’s Canada Day theme of “Canada 150 – Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” we are calling all performers and performing groups to submit proposals to perform during the 2017 Canada Day Celebration at Queens Park on July 1st. We are looking for acts that will engage the community, celebrate the spirit and multicultural heritage of New Westminster, and respond to this year’s Canada Day theme.

Criteria for performers will include: availability, suitability for audience, New Westminster connectivity and technical requirements.

Holiday Greeting Card Call for Submissions

Artists living in New Westminster are invited to submit designs to be considered for the annual Holiday card sent out by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. Two designs will be selected, one sent out to all City’s Parks and Recreation Staff and one sent out to the Department’s Community Partners. The copyright of the original designs selected will belong to the Parks and Recreation Department. $250 honorarium will be awarded to each artwork selected.

Poet Laureate Call for Submissions

City of New Westminster Poet Laureate

Deadline: October 15, 2016

New Westminster’s Poet Laureate will act as a literary ambassador for the City of New Westminster and the people of New Westminster; advocating for literacy and the literary arts and helping to raise the status of poetry, language and the arts in the everyday consciousness of New Westminster Residents.  The Poet Laureate should have the opportunity to make the position their own but the expectation is they work with City staff in developing meaningful engagement opportunities that enrich the lives of residents and visitors to the City.
