Anvil Centre is home to vibrant community and international programs, including dance, music, theatrical performances, arts and crafts programs for all ages, artist’s talks, film screenings, gallery tours and openings, and cultural festivals.

Anvil Centre is a vibrant gathering space and boutique conference centre conveniently located in the heart of the City of New Westminster. This community destination hosts a wide range of events, arts and cultural activities and programs.

Begin each class with a Baby Yoga Flow that supports your baby's developing systems. Move into a Parent's Yoga Flow which loosens and opens areas of the body that often experience repetitive strain while caring for an infant. Each class will include pranayama and core strengthening sequences. Please bring your own yoga mat and a blanket for your baby.

Intermediate Watercolour Painting

(16+)

Focus on mixing pure colours, learning more advanced painting techniques and working on themed studies. Further your understanding of the medium through instructor led demonstrations and critiques. For artists who have some watercolour experience wishing to improve their skills. Please bring a sketchbook and any watercolour supplies that you have on hand to the first class; a suggested supply list will be discussed. Supplies not included.

Get creative with your exercise routine! This program is designed to help promote balance and alignment, with a focus on lengthening your body and strengthening your legs, feet and core. This class combines core strengthening and toning of Pilates, with yoga poses to open the mind and the body. A great accompaniment to Yoga Basic Back Care, take your core strengthening a little further, while still moving at your own pace. Come and explore the similarities and the differences of Pilates and yoga and how they can benefit you. Move mindfully! Beginners welcome. Please bring your own yoga mat.

Learn to draw characters, create short narratives through image and text and discover the endless possibilities of cartooning. This program introduces curious minds to comic strips, trading cards, animated flip-books and more! All supplies included.

Join us for safe and physically distanced Halloween fun! Dress up in your Halloween best, bring a flashlight, and visit the darkened Museum lit by candlelight. Become a spectral hunter and explore the photographs in the Museum’s gallery to understand the secrets behind the ghostly images. You will receive a special treat and craft to make at home at the end of your spooky journey. Each booking can accommodate up to a total of six guests (including babies and children). Visitors under the age of 12 must be accompanied by one adult (18+). Each guest over the age of two will be required to wear a mask unless a doctor’s note is provided.

Anvil Centre’s cultural studios are top-of-the-line professional studio spaces that offer quality settings for visual, performing, applied, sound and new media arts.

They are available for workshops, lectures, screenings and rehearsals.

Anvil Centre also offers a professionally outfitted, acoustically insulated music practice room. All cultural studios and the music practice room can be rented at affordable prices.
