Anvil Centre is home to vibrant community and international programs, including dance, music, theatrical performances, arts and crafts programs for all ages, artist’s talks, film screenings, gallery tours and openings, and cultural festivals.

Anvil Centre is a vibrant gathering space and boutique conference centre conveniently located in the heart of the City of New Westminster. This community destination hosts a wide range of events, arts and cultural activities and programs.

Writing Alice: Creating Community Spirit in a Time of Crisis

In March 2020, the global Covid-19 pandemic brought regular life in New Westminster to a halt. Amid the chaos of businesses shutting their doors and schools and workplaces closing, a small group of Victoria Hill neighbours had an idea to write a book - one digital line at a time. Join the authors of Alice as they discuss how they were able to grow closer together during a time of social isolation, when all British Columbians were asked to keep physically distanced to “flatten the curve”.

Little musicians test out new ways to make music, learn the basics of rhythm & pitch and participate in a variety of musically inspired craft activities. No previous musical experience required. For safety, emphasis will be placed on playing string and percussion instruments as opposed to singing. All supplies included.

Anvil Centre’s cultural studios are top-of-the-line professional studio spaces that offer quality settings for visual, performing, applied, sound and new media arts.

They are available for workshops, lectures, screenings and rehearsals.

Anvil Centre also offers a professionally outfitted, acoustically insulated music practice room. All cultural studios and the music practice room can be rented at affordable prices.
