Anvil Centre is home to vibrant community and international programs, including dance, music, theatrical performances, arts and crafts programs for all ages, artist’s talks, film screenings, gallery tours and openings, and cultural festivals.

Anvil Centre is a vibrant gathering space and boutique conference centre conveniently located in the heart of the City of New Westminster. This community destination hosts a wide range of events, arts and cultural activities and programs.

Clickable Interactive Art – Intro to UX

This workshop is virtual through Zoom. In this workshop you will learn the basics of User Experience design and create an interactive artwork you can view on a computer or mobile device . We will explore how time based and experiential artwork can be used to ask questions, present ideas or just be silly and fun. Participants will learn how to lay out visual elements using the Figma platform, how to create simple animations and create clickable interactions. These are all ideas we can explore together during this workshop. For this class, you will need: a computer. This workshop is virtual through Zoom. This class is for students who are new to creating music. Spring is the air and music as well! Music comes in many forms and in this progressive music class, kids will learn the science of sound and how to make amazing compositions on the computer. We will be using the Sonic Pi software to create sounds. This class is wonderful for musicians who are new to music or already have a favourite instrument that they play.

Home: 3D Modeling Basics

(16+)

A virtual class using Zoom and video lessons. This class is about an individual vision of a home, house or a place where we live. We will discuss an etymology of a word “home”, how a human shelter evolved over centuries and most importantly what your definition of home is. We will create simple sketches that will be translated into a 3D model. Students will be introduced to the 3D modeling program, Sketchup and learn its basics. We will have a simple exercise to accustom you to the tools and then you will start modeling your very own vision of home that you previously sketched and that you carry in your heart. Requirements: Personal Computer and mouse.

Anvil Centre’s cultural studios are top-of-the-line professional studio spaces that offer quality settings for visual, performing, applied, sound and new media arts.

They are available for workshops, lectures, screenings and rehearsals.

Anvil Centre also offers a professionally outfitted, acoustically insulated music practice room. All cultural studios and the music practice room can be rented at affordable prices.
