The MASTER exhibition marks a decade for New Media Gallery. The exhibition presents works spanning a quarter century (2000 – 2024). Over the past decade New Media Gallery has presented the work of over 200 international artists in 35 group exhibitions, representing over half a century of extraordinary artistic accomplishment in new media.
Six artists from five countries use material from films by one celebrated Director. This is a material full of compulsion, dislocation and flawed humanity; identifiable and memorable sound, colour, faces, places and psychologies. Eight extraordinary works will give us insights into AI dreaming, robotic remakes of the subconscious and place, a rumination on marginalia, retracing past journeys, the power of simulation, revealing hidden dimensions, surveilling human emotions, and memento mori. ‘The Director’ is a character at once fictitious and real; a surveilling presence confined to a small screen. Eight works will take visitors on a journey through a world of film and artistic interpretation.
